Accutron re-launched with a bang as an independent brand in 2020, unveiling numerous futuristic designs alongside a swath of historically-inclined, neo-vintage styles. Since its high-profile rebirth, the brand has focused foremost on the latter of these two pillars, eschewing more luxurious aesthetics, seen in collections like its captivatingly modern Spaceview, in favor of the more retro looks embodied by its Legacy collection. The 1960-inspired Legacy 521, released at the start of this year, is one recent example, and Accutron continues on this path with the unveiling of its latest historically focused timepiece, the Legacy 412.
Accutron maintains its legacy as an innovator in the watch making industry and continues to have exclusive technology like no other. The new Accutron electrostatic movements utilize Coulomb’s Law of electrostatic energy by utilizing two electrostatic generators within the movement. The generators in turn create energy that is stored in an accumulator that fuels two motors. One motor that handles the function of the second hand and second motor that specifically handles the hour and minute hand functions.
Just as the original movement was a partnership between the Bulova watch company and the Swiss, the new electrostatic movement is a collaboration with Citizen’s Miyota movement manufacture. This mechanism took over a decade to develop and bring to market and its elegance and engineering do not disappoint.
In part as Accutron works to spread the word about there amazing new timepieces they have forged partnerships with the likes of the Hudson Whiskey Company, La Palina Cigars, and Esterbrook pens. These partnerships have led to introduction of the limited edition La Palina Accutron Spaceview that features a distinct brown accent spaceview dial and comes with a handmade Ecuadorian wood humidor and a dozen La Palina cigars. Only 222 of these special edition watches have been produced and they are going fast. Come into K & Co today and discover more about these amazing feats of engineering.
